How to Use the E-Library

We recommend using the Libby app to read and listen, but you can also listen and read directly in your browser. All you need is the GE number from your library card and a password.

Here is general information about the e-library (Rafbókasafnið).

Do you need a new password?

Click HERE and follow these instructions:

Enter your ID number in the "User ID" field and then press "Send" – do not enter an email address.
Follow the steps sent to you in the email (please note: use only numbers and letters).
Memorize the password.

If you do not receive an email, your email address may not be registered in the library system. You can try logging into leitir.is with an electronic ID, save your email address there under "Personal Information", and then repeat the steps above.

I have downloaded the Libby app, how do I log in?

Library name = Rafbókasafnið
Sign in with my card > Borgarbókasafnið
Card number = The library card's GE number
Password = Your password

How do I log in to rafbokasafnid.is?

Sign in
Select your library = Borgarbókasafnið
Library Card = GEXXXXXXXX
Password = Your password

Do you not remember the GE number on your library card?

You can find it by logging in with your ID number and password, or with an electronic ID, on My Account at borgarbokasafn.leitir.is and clicking on Personal Information.
