There is 1 bicycle rack in front of the building.

Car Parking and Entrance

We are located in Spöngin, Grafarvogur, close to a variety of shops and services. General parking is in the middle of the area and the disabled parking is in front of the entrance to the library. There is a ramp between the parking space and the pavement. There is an automatic sliding door.

The library is on two floors with an entrance on the ground floor. You can take an elevator or the stairs to the 2nd floor. There are no thresholds in the building. The service desk is visible when you enter the library and our staff is always there to assist you. We encourage all who can to use sustainable transport choices.

Baby Carriages

You are welcome to bring your children in carriages or strollers. You can also borrow a stroller at the service desk.

WC

On the ground floor there are to toilets, one of them for people with disabilities and there you find a baby changing station. On the 2nd floor there are two toilets. All facilities are gender neutral.

A Place to Eat

There is free coffee, tea and water for all our users. The coffee-corner on the ground floor is a good place to eat your food or snack. You can borrow a baby high chair.

Acoustics and Lighting

The public libraries are places for people to meet up and socialize and are therefore often quite busy. We often have school visits and we offer all kinds of events during the week. Despite that there are more quiet times and possible to find a cozy spot and dive into your reading, work or school projects, especially on the 2nd floor and in closed spaces.

The space is wide and the windows big and therefore the acoustics are not so good, especially in the children’s department and the coffee corner on the ground floor.

Beeping sounds can be heard from the self-service machines.

Led lights are in the ceilings and the light is rather mild but daylight comes through the big windows on both floors. Led light decorations are in the windows during the darkest months of the year.

Guide dogs are welcome
